John R. (Grizz) Deal • Executive Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, and Director
John R. (Grizz) Deal has nearly thirty years of experience in technology commercialization, tech-based startups, fast-growing ventures, and product development. He is the founder and CEO of nine tech startups and has also worked in the defense industry and for the Department of Energy.
Randall (Randy) Wilson • Chief Financial Officer and Director
John R. (Grizz) Deal has nearly thirty years of experience in technology commercialization, tech-based startups, fast-growing ventures, and product development. He is the founder and CEO of nine tech startups and has also worked in the defense industry and for the Department of Energy.Mr. Wilson currently serves as the CFO of the Sandia Science & Technology Park Development Corporation, a nonprofit foundation that manages the development of the Sandia Science & Technology Park in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and CFO of IX Power Clean Water, a start-up company commercializing water treatment technologies for oil and gas field produced waters. He is Chair of the Sandia Science & Technology Park Tenant Association and Treasurer of the New Mexico Angels (a private investment group). From 1993 through 2011, Mr. Wilson was Director of Business Operations for Technology Ventures Corporation, a nonprofit Lockheed Martin foundation that commercializes technologies developed in U.S. DOE national laboratories.
Robert S. Bednarz, Ph.D. • Director
Robert Bednarz is emeritus professor of geography at Texas A&M University. His recent research has focused on spatial thinking, the impact of using geo-spatial technologies on spatial-thinking skills, assessment of spatial-thinking skills, and the implementation of geo-spatial technologies in science and geoscience curricula. He is past-president of the NCGE, former editor of the Journal of Geography, and current North American editor of the Journal of Geography in Higher Education.
John Michael (Michael) Bell • Director
Michael Bell is a real estate developer, broker, and technology startup investor who has a passion for sustainable companies like IX Water. He values their technology, concern for the environment, and mission to help the US and other countries clean up their dirty water.
Deborah A. (Deal) Blackwell • Chief Marketing Officer
Ms. Deal-Blackwell serves as the Vice President of Marketing for IX Power Clean Water and as the CEO of the IX Power Foundation. The sibling Deals have worked together as founders and executives of several firms over the last 20 years.
Before IX Power, Deborah co-founded Hyperion Power Generation. She served as the V.P. of Marketing & Public Relations for the company and as the top executive in Hyperion’s Washington, D.C. office directed interaction with the U.S. Congress and all other federal agencies. Prior to Hyperion, she served as the CEO of the medical transportation charity Angel Flight Southeast, and before that worked around the globe as a marketing executive in the computer software, real estate, and hospitality industries. Her degrees in journalism-public relations and radio-TV were earned at the University of Central Florida. She is an accredited public relations specialist (APR) and member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). She is the founder and chair of the annual “Jeffco International Women’s Day” celebration, Vice President of the Foothills Art Center, and Chair of the Jeffco Library Foundation’s “Whale of a Used Book Sale.” She is also a graduate of the Leadership Golden class of 2015/2016 and the Leadership Jefferson County class of 2015/2016, and has served terms on a number of local government-appointed and chamber of commerce committees. She recently concluded her term as a Trustee of the Jefferson County Library.
Deborah was recognized this year as one of the Denver Business Journal’s “Top Women in Energy in Colorado,” and with The Elena Joyce Grissom Lifetime Achievement Award from the Jefferson County Library Foundation.
Dr. Otis (Pete) Peterson • Chief Technical Officer
Otis Peterson is a PhD physicist with over 55 years of experience in industry and the national laboratories. He has 70 publications, including a book chapter, which have earned over 2700 citations. He is a fellow of Optica and former science attache in London.
Robert (Bob) FitzGerald • Director
